It helps for a fortnight and then you're back where you started. That's not bad luck and it's not you doing it wrong. The problem was never the box, it's where things sit and what the signal has to get through, and no amount of extra kit fixes a layout nobody measured.
So here's the honest split. We'd rather tell you what you can do yourself than sell you something you didn't need.
Worth doing yourself
- Wireless sensors and video doorbells. Stick them up, pair them in the app, and the batteries last years.
- Swapping a router, or plugging existing cameras into a switch that's already there.
- A mesh kit, if your place is small and open and the signal only has one wall to get through.
Worth getting us in for
- Cable through walls, floors and joists, and making good properly afterwards.
- Terminating and testing every run, so you know what you have rather than hoping.
- Working out where things actually go. This is the part that goes wrong.
- PoE cameras and sirens, which need power and cable getting to the position.

How much does a Unifi installation cost?
Residential packages start from £849 and business packages from £2,299, both including Ubiquiti hardware at UK RRP and professional installation. The exact figure depends on property size and how many access points, cameras or cabling runs are needed, which is confirmed at survey.
What areas do you cover?
We cover Yorkshire from our Sheffield base, including Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Chesterfield, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Dewsbury, Keighley, York, Harrogate, Hull and Scarborough, across South, West, North and East Yorkshire.
What is included in the survey fee?
The Sheffield WiFi Health Check is £75, The Business Network Blueprint is £250, and The Home Security Walkaround is free. Each includes a full on-site assessment, a bespoke network design and a detailed quote you keep whether or not you go ahead. The fee is credited in full against your invoice if you do.
Why is the security survey free when the others are not?
The Home Security Walkaround is a walk round the property, typically under an hour. The Sheffield WiFi Health Check is room-by-room testing, a signal heatmap and a written plan. The Business Network Blueprint is a full day of commercial scoping. Whichever applies, the fee comes off your installation bill in full if you go ahead.
Do you only install Unifi and Ubiquiti products?
We specialise in the Unifi ecosystem by Ubiquiti, which gives the best combination of performance, reliability and value for homes and small businesses. All hardware is supplied at UK RRP.
How long does a network installation take?
A standard home WiFi installation usually takes half a day. Full-site work including structured cabling, CCTV and access control is scoped at the survey. Every system is tested and handed over before we leave.
Can you fix slow or unreliable WiFi?
Yes, poor WiFi is the most common problem we are called out for. We survey the property, identify dead zones and interference, then install a properly designed Unifi system that delivers consistent coverage and speed throughout.
Can you install CCTV?
Yes. We install Unifi Protect IP camera systems with on-site NVR recording for homes and businesses. Footage is stored locally and viewable remotely from your phone.
Do you offer Cat6 and structured cabling?
Yes. We run Cat6 structured cabling, install patch panels, PoE switches and build network racks for homes and businesses. All cabling is tested, certified and labelled.
Do I need a monthly subscription?
No. The Unifi systems we install have no monthly fees. You own the hardware outright, recordings are stored locally on your own NVR, and there are no cloud storage charges or locked premium tiers.
Are there contracts or cancellation fees?
No. Your system is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. Our 12-month workmanship guarantee covers the installation, and the Ubiquiti hardware carries its manufacturer warranty.
